The Elan Valley is the site of a major engineering project, the biggest in the world at the time (1893-1904), the construction of a series of dams to supply water to the city of Birmingham. This makes the valley a brilliant place to study not only the environment but also the impact man has had on that environment. The area offers significant opportunity for elements of geography, history, science and maths as well as outdoor education.
